CloseWhat is your gift acceptance policy for year-end gifts?
Per IRS regulations, gifts to Covenant Living are deductible in the calendar year made. Thus, donations charged to a credit card before the end of the calendar year are recorded in the same calendar year, even if the credit card bill isn’t paid until the following calendar year. Additionally, checks are recorded in the calendar year in which they were mailed. If a gift is dropped off in the Director of Philanthropy’s (DOP) mailbox, slipped under the DOP door by 11:59 PM on December 31, or sent by mail and post-marked on or before that date, it will be recorded as a gift made in the same calendar year even if it is not processed until January of the next calendar year. The donor gift acknowledgment letter will reflect the year in which the gift was made.
